New Plugin: Miscellaneous

KillMax.exe is a simple utility that will kill all running copies of Max. Often, this is faster than 'cleanly' shutting down Max, and comes in handy when dealing with huge scenes or when you have to repeatedly start/stop Max.


Plugin Update: Objects

Changes for v1.1.48 beta are:
- New Settle function to fill and settle containers until the desired filling %
- More control over the solver floating window
- Bug-fix - After loading a scene with objects filled with particles, those objects are refilled internally


Plugin Update: Texturing

Changes for v1.2 are:
- Added Random Seed parameter
- Added V-Ray compatible Shade Context

New Plugin: Materials

InfoTexture shades the surface according to various surface properties. Intended to be used to render passes of a scene that will later be used in a compositing program or post-process script.


New Plugin: MAXScript Extensions

FooLib is a collection of interfaces containing new functions and properties for use in MaxScript.

- IFooAdvancedLighting - Provides access to the Advanced Lighting dialog
- IFooBitmap - Methods for working with Bitmap files and values
- IFooFile - Methods for working with external files and directories
- IFooInfo - Provides information on FooLib itself
- IFooMaxFile - Methods for working with external Max files

Changes for v1.1 are:
- Added sharpness function for specular reinforcement
- Added 'Save as default' for Gradations

- Added Line Alpha Attenuation by Z-depth

Changes for v0.1.2 Alpha are:
- Fixed many rewiring, node structure and palette manager redraw bugs

New Plugin: Miscellaneous

This is the Max 6 version of the very useful Lockstep plugin for dpsReality users. There is also a version for owners of the dpsQauttrus system which you can get here.


Plugin Update: Import / Export

Changes for v4.0.4.59 are:
- Updates the plugin to work with Max 6

New Plugin: Materials

The DirectX 9 Shader material has been recompiled against the Summer Update DX9 SDK. It also fixes a couple of problems including issues with scripted materials and volume textures not loading correctly.

Plugin News: Hercules announced...

Di-O-Matic, Inc. have announced their upcoming plugin Hercules. Hercules is a complete musculature solution aimed at creating realistic deformations for your animated characters' skin directly inside Max.

Hercules is currently in final development stage and the release date is planned soon. The suggested retail price is set to $599, pre-orders are currently being accepted and provide access to the latest beta version until the final version is shipped.

Imports MDL files (v37) from HalfLife 2 into Max.

Plugin News: New plugins in beta...

GMCC Software have announced that 2 upcoming plugins have started beta-testing.

Gesture Max converts characters and props from Poser 4 or 5 into Max including all geometry, attributes, morph channels, materials and maps into their Max equivalents.

Workflow Max is a fully integrated asset management system for Max and VIZ.

For a brief period, both plugins will be in a limited beta cycle. To obtain access to the beta versions, go to the Digimation Beta site, create an account, and send a request to Todd Peterson to get access.

MooDee has recompiled his plugins for Max 6. MooDee Shader v0.04 and MDFilter v 1.04 are both available here. There is also an alternative version of the MooDee Shader in the ZIP file, which should be used if problems crop up with the original version (I think!).

This is a recompile of an old Max 2 plugin. It is a spacewarp that kills any particles that land on it.

Turbo Squid has announced the release of Service Pack 2 for finalRender Stage-1. It is a free download for all registered Stage-1 users.

Changes in SP2 include:
- All new anti-aliasing core engine technologies
- Powerful Dynamic Bitmaps technology
- Substantial speed increases within complex scenes
- Drastically reduced memory consumption by the renderer core
- Inclusion of special Adaptive Multiple Ray Sampler code
- Cylinder area light source is now included
