Plugin Update: Utilities

Changes for v2.12.3 are:
- The submitter now takes mandatory parameters into account and won't submit jobs missing one
- It's now possible to save and pause a net job when saving its render set
- The submitter no longer automatically splits multiple cameras/layers into separate jobs
- Mandatory parameters are now marked when listing renderer parameters with the command-line RC
- Updates a few default server settings
- Fixes environment variable handling (fixes issues with Modo, for example)
- The PostRendering event now works properly
- The web server options now work correctly in the trial version
- Browsing for renderer executables in the renderer management now works
- The renderer column is now colored correctly
- Fixes some issues with V-Ray for SketchUp causing endless rendering loops
- Adds a startup delay option to SketchUp (useful to avoid plugin loading problems)
- If the SketchUp scene file doesn't exist or can't be copied locally, a proper error is now given

RenderPal is available for Max 9 to 2017 and costs €49 per node. A demo version is available here.


Plugin Update: Import / Export

Changes for v1.4.0 are:
- Adds support for Max 2017
- Root node is now exported as osg::Group instead of osg::MatrixTransform
- LOD helper now includes the full hierarchy of child nodes


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for Alpha 2.02 are:
- Adds a spinner for controlling render exposure in Film options
- HDR textures now bake out correctly
- The Max UI no longer becomes unresponsive when large textures are baking
- Updates third-party libraries: Boost to 1.61 and OpenImageIO to 1.6.13


New Plugin: Modelling

ImpressObjects allows two intersecting meshes to be pressed against one another so that their respective vertices do not overlap. Unlike boolean operations, ImpressObjects does not cut through the geometry, allowing the resulting meshes to be used in morph animations.

ImpressObjects is available for Max 2012 to 2016 and costs $14.9. A demo version is available here.

Plugin Update: Lighting

Changes for v5.3.3 are:
- You can now create and control area Lights in Max via the HDR Light Studio connection
- You can now create and control area Lights in C4D via the HDR Light Studio connection
- The Maya connection now supports Maya 2016.5

Plugin Update: Modelling

Changes for v1.5 are:
- Adds support for all UI languages (German, French, Chinese, etc.)
- Adds support for Max 2017

miauu's Spline Deformer is available for Max 2009 to 2017 and costs €7.


New Plugin: Materials

This is a very simple texmap that uses the wirecolor of the object it is applied to. There are no settings at all, just apply it to the diffuse slot or wherever.

Changes for v1.4 are:
- Adds support for Max 2017
- New denoising can reduce render times by 50 to 70%
- Adds VFB History with A/B comparisons to quickly compare renders
- Adds adaptive image sampling that automatically focuses processing on tricky areas

Changes for v2.7 are:
- Adds support for Max 2017
- Adds a glare filter with preset or user supplied lens image
- Adds a 'Depth compression' parameter for the DOF filter
- Adds adjustable weights for LUT and ICC
- Adds an adjustable vignette falloff
- You can now set the vignette center directly on the image
- Adds an option to not include all elements when saving PSD files
- Adds an option to use the alpha as a mask rather than transparency when saving PSD files
- Adds support for exporting PSD files over 2GB (internally saved as PSB)
- Improves the bloom algorithm for a more natural appearance
- Changes gamma export handling resulting in more correct export of linear-gamma files
- Increases DOF and bloom weights spinner precision
- Increases the maximum bloom threshold to 100
- Negative pixel values are no longer clipped unless a particular effect requires them to be
- Fixes a compatibility issue with newer versions of Teamviewer
- Fixes a crash when right clicking the frame buffer when curves are active
- Manually deleting an image file and then opening the film-strip no longer causes an exception
- The Z-Depth G-Buffer element now persists between Max sessions
- Persisting images between Max sessions no longer leaks memory
- Very low amounts of blur in DOF no longer cause halo artifacts on the image

Plugin Updates: SimLab plugins for Max 2017

Simulation Lab Software have released a number of their plugins for Max 2017.
SolidWorks Importer v7.0, 3D PDF Exporter v6.0 and SketchUp Exporter v6.0 are all available now for the latest version of Max.

The plugins are available for Max 2010 to 2017 and cost $99 (3D PDF Exporter and SketchUp Exporter) / $150 (SolidWorks Importer). A demo version is available here.


Plugin Update: Atmospherics

Changes for v4.0.4 are:
- Adds support for Max 2017
- Fixes an issue with AFC and Gradient crashing at random
- Updates to AfterFLICS 3.5.0 (adds license usage tracking function)

FumeFX is available for Max 2012 to 2017 and costs $845.

Plugin Updates: Itoo freeware plugins for Max 2017

Itoo Software have released their freeware plugins Clone, Glue and ColorEdge for Max 2017. They also announced that Forest Pack and RailClone for Max 2017 will be ready shortly after V-Ray for Max 2017 is released.


Plugin Update: Particles

Changes for v2.2.0 are:
- Adds support for Max 2017
- Fixes large point display in Nitrous using DirectX 11
- Adds options to expose controls from inside a BLOP in the Magma Editor
- Adds an Ignore Backfaces option to the IntersectRay and NearestPoint operators
- Adds a prompt with the time it took to update the Magma Debugger
- Fixes the saving and loading of Loop nodes
- Fixes a node error when closing the Curve Editor while the Magma Editor was closed

New Plugin: Modelling

Tubing allows you to generate a tileable mesh by using splines to define the base and profile of the mesh.

Tubing is available for Max 2012 to 2017 and costs $4.


Plugin Update: Renderers

Changes for v0.1.9 are:
- Adds extra controls for the scene converter
- Adds support for region render (RT only at the moment)

Plugin Update: Particles / Renderer

Changes for v2.5.1 are:
- A number of 'Birth Channel Generator Utility' UI improvements
- Creating an InputTexmap in Magma now auto-connects to the Output node if it is selected
- Fixes a bug in the PRT Source object converting meshes and splines with animated deformations
- Changes the log level of some messages related to the PRT Source from Error to Debug Level

New Plugin: Animation

This commercial MAXScript animates bones along a spline, which can be useful when animating worms, snakes, etc.

Bone on Spline is available for Max 2014 to 2016 and costs $5.


Plugin Update: Utilities

Changes for v1.6 are:
- Adds support for Max 2017
- Adds automatic .bmf file reconciliation (Max 2013 or higher)
- Fixes file errors during network render being sent to log file instead of dialog
