Pinnacle Systems announced Commotion 4.0, an integrated paint, compositing, and effects application designed for independent filmmakers and non-linear editors. New Features in Commotion 4.0: optimized paint and compositing speed (by 200 and 30 percent respectively), grouping and browsing controls in the Timeline (users can add mattes, color corrections, or other filters and motion controls to multiple layers at once),  real-time playback of standard definition clips using Pinnacle CineWave and TARGA 3000 and Adobe Photoshop Layer Import New.

Pricing and Availability
Commotion 4.0 is expected to ship in late June and will be available worldwide through select resellers at $999 for Commotion Pro 4.0 and $499 for Commotion 4.0. Upgrade pricing for versions 3.0 or earlier is $249 and $149 respectively. Customers who have purchased Commotion 3.1 after April 19, 2001, will receive a free upgrade when 4.0 shipments start in June 2001.
