San Antonio (Jul. 24, 2002) -- Softimage Co. and international special effects company Avtoma announced today the companies have partnered to provide the film industry with new productivity and creativity enhancing methodologies and technologies. The first results of this joint effort are tools for working with High Dynamic Range images (HDRI) in SOFTIMAGE|XSI, the industry’s premier 3-D nonlinear production environment.

With the new HDRI tools, users can quickly and accurately re-construct lighting conditions from live-action sets. The process provides for more realistic simulation of natural and outdoor lighting in 3-D scenes and on 3-D objects and reduces production times and costs.
