SAN RAFAEL, CA—April 1, 2005—According to undisclosed sources, a poker
game that took place on Saturday, February 26 in Montreal, between
marketing staff from Autodesk and Discreet would have resulted in the
latest re-branding of Discreet's products.
(continued...) "The folks from Discreet got too greedy", said Mr. D., a purported witness to the match. "They were winning, you know, they had already won back 'VIZ' and gained 'Inventor', but that wasn't enough for them, they wanted AutoCad". That's when they lost, according to reports. The Discreet team supposedly put Max and Combustion on the table and they "lost it all". "I told them to stop betting, it was time to leave" said Mr. D., "but they wouldn't listen, they got greedy. Same thing happened to the Kinetix folks a while ago, you know. These matches have been going on for a while, but these people just don't learn." A new match is rumored to be scheduled for August, after SIGGRAPH ends, to give Discreet marketing staff a chance to recover part of its software line. |
