News | LightWave 3D 9.0 released
NewTek announced the availability of LightWave 3D 9.0. New features include a node-based materials editor, optically correct cameras and adaptive pixel subdivision which provides a variety of capabilities for displacement mapping, normal mapping and level-of-detail control at render time. lw9 is pretty nifty...renders 2.5 times faster than lw8.5 or better..and now has node based [and layer] surface editing

That is is probably because, until now, LW was lacking any spatial partitioning scheme found in almost all the raytracers out there.

I wonder if they would support mentalray....
