Frantic Films Software will be
showing new software at SIGGRAPH, Booth #331, including a new version of their Deadline network rendering management application and some upcoming Max plugins.
(continued...) For the first time ever, the software division of Frantic Films will have its own booth (#331) at Siggraph in Boston. Expect some exciting news regarding the Deadline Render Manager which is coming soon in a new refactored version 2.5 with improved Monitor performance, unprecedented integration with 3DS Max built-in and 3rd party renderers as well as enhanced support for other applications; sneak peeks into some upcoming commercial tools developed during the production of Superman Returns, which include Flood: Surf, an end-to-end toolkit for photo real ocean surfaces and the Krakatoa particle renderer; and last but not least, a chance to meet most of the developers personally. Comments:
FLOOD!! good deal Posted by: Nando at July 27, 2006 08:40 PM Flood is a major competitive advantage for Frantic. It brings us work. We spent 18 months working on Superman Returns and Flood was one of the main tools that helped us finish our shots. But you must understand that getting a fluid dynamics package down to the masses is a huge task - we have dedicated simulation guys tweaking parameters for weeks to get the best results for a show, while regular users would complain if they don't get ILM quality results in 5 minutes. We realize people expect a Make Art button instead, and that walking the line between power and usability is tricky. So Flood is not dead, it is just not idiot-proof yet... Btw, next time people start asking you questions, you can visit Frantic Software's Support Forum and discuss anything related to current and future developments there... :o) Posted by: Bobo at July 28, 2006 09:49 AM |
