"Hi there, I’ve put up some new tutorials for 3dsmax on various particles and effects subjects, one of them is more theory based just demonstrating how to create a fx interface to control your particles that you build for specific effects pipelines. Here I mocked up an effects pipeline for ashing vampires (similar to the effects work I did on blade trinity a couple of years back) but using pflow, and I’ve scripted an interface to be able to quickly apply an effects pipeline like that to a new scene in literally seconds." http://www.allanmckay.com/tut/tut_dts.avi - Tutorial on particles and compositing them

Try to be more constructive with your criticism. There's no need to insult people's work. And you'll get a much better response, too.

To Allan: maybe things could work better with the tutorials if you made file sizes smaller (different codec?) or split the tutorials into a sequence of files.

I think somebody should refer Allan to an audio compression tutorial before he runs out of bandwidth : ).

Looks like it's too late... :)

Can't seem to download the files now..

I downloaded the files just fine.
If you go to his website and right click on the links it works no prolem.
Also, Alan is posting this stuff for free, so don't knock the guy...the tutorials are great, check them out.

...yeh, Its like posting BMP's, only that they are 2D. Quite inconsiderate of even the average user's time and bandwidth.

I watched Tut_FX-Gui.avi, in short, i believe Allan is trying to tell us to use MXS listener more often ? : ).
Building an "effects pipeline" on MXS is not practical really, maybe for prototyping but not for production (+10k particles). So, any TD knows the importance of compiled (offline) code.

Hi guys, yeah I find it hard to find time to record any of that stuff, so usually when I do I hit upload and run out the door, but when I get time I'll try to recompress all of these to be smaller. website, same thing, I don't have time to make a pretty site, but hopefully you can cover your eyes long enough to get to what you're after on the page.

Hopefully you find the training material useful.

Its basically the Uncompressed PCM audio that you seem to be using in all the clips on your site.

I had no problem in downloading the tutes.
I think it's great that an artist of your calibre can spend whatever little time off you get to post these tues for free.

Thanks heaps Allan.
