3D Insider has posted a couple of interesting videos, one of them a live demo of the SpacePilot in 3ds Max and Photoshop, the other an interview with Peter Mitev from Chaos Group talking about V-Ray and Aura. There is also a video coming soon of Scott Kirvan from Splutterfish talking about Brazil 2.
Softimage announced the release of the first CAT update since Avid acquired
the intellectual property assets of Character Animation Technologies. New features
include a new system for manipulating CATRigs quickly and easily using gizmos,
a pose mixer tool that allows you to animate in CAT the same way you would using
morph targets, new pipeline tools that include a batch importer to import data
into Max as well as a script-based batch exporter, etc. Interestingly enough, support for the 3DS Max plugin will now be provided by
Softimage itself. CAT v2.5 is a free upgrade for v2.0 users and above. Find

With TurnTool users can make 3D models available for everyone on the Net, CD-ROM

Eric Lerner has posted online his final project for the Bezalel Academy of Art
and Design in Jerusalem. Mr.
CityMen is a collection of five great short films which combine 3D animation
with live footage and whose characters are loosely based on the books created
by Roger Hargreaves 35
years ago. Lerner made his project in collaboration with musicians Eitan
Shefer, Ariel Einfeld and Dan Weisman. Check it out! (Note: not created with

As reported
earlier, D2 Software have announced a free non-commercial version of their
NUKE compositing software. The Windows version is now available
for download. Linux and Mac free versions of NUKE, which were not part of
the original announcement, are also mentioned now at D2 Software's website.
