An interesting new book
by Christian Bloch that covers HDR imaging and according to his website is a successor to his very own diploma thesis on HDRI. Also of note, the site that hosts the info on the book features great sections dedicated to HDRI, including an up-to-date list of tools and a gallery of panoramas. Check it out!
Many new 3D models at DigitalElements.be. The website is growing fast.
Take a look at this impressive short film by Sylvain Nouveau, Mathieu Navarro, Aurore Turbe and François Pommiez, students at the École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques in Montpellier, France. An interview with the authors is available from 3DVF.com (French). (Note: not created with Max, but definitely worth a look.)

of the open source graphics program. Also of note, for those who find GIMP's
interface a bit confusing, a version that mimics Photoshop's interface called
GIMPshop is also available (though it hasn't yet incorporated the features of v2.4).

The fourth installment of Spiral Graphics' line of free seamless texture packs
has been released. With the latest pack more than 150 textures have been added to the collection, bringing the total number of freely downloadable seamless textures to approximately 600. The new pack, which contains terrain textures of all types, can be found at Spiralgraphics.biz.
The textures are available in resolution-independent procedural form (GTX),

EarthSculptor is a realtime terrain editor and paint program featuring an easy to use interface designed for rapid development of 3D landscapes for visualization and game development. It allows users to start from scratch or work from an existing
