KrxImpExp is a collection of open source import and export plugins for the games Gothic and Gothic II. These plugins are intended for modders and allow you to import and export 3DS files to / from 3D Editor, as well as importing and exporting ASC files. These 3DS and ASC files are used for creating or editing 3D models (armor, weapons, characters, monsters, levels, etc.) The plugins also let you import three internal 'Gothic' file formats: MSH (compiled mesh), MRM (multi-resolution mesh), ZEN (zengin world).

This is a modified version of the Valve SMD exporter which exports Half-Life 2 SMD's from Max. It supports Physique, Skin, and Bones Pro, as well as blending of vertices. Also included is a compiled version of the Valve VTA exporter used in creating facial animations using the morpher modifer.

This plugin imports Half-Life 2 SMD's. It can load both reference and animation SMD's. It supports weights in the SMD file and will create a skin modifer for the reference model, it can also rebuild the smoothing groups from the vertex normals in the SMD file although this can take some time if the model is large.

ActorX enables Max to export skeletal animation and models for use in Unreal Tournament. ActorX will look for any hierarchy which has either Physique meshes or other meshes attached to it, and export either the skin + reference skeleton ('model' - *.PSK files) or the animation (*.PSA files), using the filenames given in the main exporter utility pane. kW X-port can export a scene as geometry and animation out of Max. It correctly exports geometry skinned with the ISkin modifier, as well as regular objects, with up to 4 channels of UV data, tangents, binormals, and other useful geometry options.

Additionally, it can re-write texture references (turn them relative, and/or change the extension of all textures to .dds), and ignore (or include) geometry with no material assigned.

For animations, both skinned and un-skinned animations are supported, and you can define multiple animations as separate subsets of the Max timeline. Each has its own name, and they can even have different time scales.

Panda DX Exporter gives Max users the ability to export to .X files with as much information as possible about the objects in a scene. Because it uses the Max internal structures it can retrieve all the information available and is not limited by the export to a 3DS file.

Supported features include:
- Mesh vertices
- Mesh normals (optimized list)
- Mesh material list
- Mesh texture coordinates
- Mesh faces
- Vertex colours - if they are set in Max
- Materials (uses [Standard] Max diffuse map as DX texture map)

- Text/Binary Mode/Compressed X file
- X File frames - with full hierarchy
- Animation
- Skinning using CS Physique and Max bones/skinning (not Biped)
- Left handed axis conversion

This version of the plugin requires the August 2008 Direct SDK to be installed before it will operate.

SceneEngine is an open source 3D production solution built on top of an easy to use object oriented C++ SDK, the SceneEngine libraries. Lua scripting, file input and output, mesh creation and deformation, rendering and texture baking are just some of the features implemented by SceneEngine. The project includes import and export plugins for Max and Maya, a Lua interpreter to do script processing on scenes, including rendering and texture baking, and an OpenGL scene viewer and editor.

This importer makes it much easier to combine Terragen renders with Max 3D-objects. Animation script import has not been implemented yet, but time permitting, will be added at a later date.
