New Plugin: Miscellaneous
The purpose of this utility is to provide users of both VIZ 4 and Max 5 the highest possible degree of file and feature compatibility between these products. This is accomplished by copying unique VIZ functionality (dlls and scripts) from your VIZ installation directories into your Max installation directories. Some of these features will work exactly as they do in VIZ and other features work with certain limitations.

Site News: BlurBeta broken links...
I've only just noticed that all of the links for BlurBeta plugins were dead. I have now updated the links for max 4, but the links for older plugin versions are still dead until I find out where they are now being stored.
It looks like the links have been dead for a while, but if no-one tells me that they don't work, then I can't fix them.... So please send me a mail if you notice anything not working.

New Plugin: Modifiers
This is a modifier that lets you mirror texture vertices, material ID's and smoothing groups across a mesh. Basically you select the faces that you want to mirror to and pass them to the modifier.
The limitations are that it must be a tri-mesh, the modifier should not be instanced if you use a mirror node, and for best results make sure your selection does not cross the mirror plane.

New Plugin: Utilities
NormalRender generates a bitmap of normals from a high resolution (high polyon count) 'source' object, which you can then apply to a low resolution 'target' object. Both objects must have identical texture map coordinates at the time the normal map is generated.
A 'host' hardware shader-based material is needed to view the results of the normal map interactively. The Max 5 'Metal Bump' shader is ideal, but you may also use 3rd-party hardware shader plugins as well.
Note: NormalRenderis provided as-is, as an unsupported example of how to generate normal maps for use with real-time shaders in Max 4 and 5.
NormalRender was developed with the Max 4 SDK and is thus compatible with Max 4 and 5. You can use it with any proprietary hardware shaders inMax 4 and 5 (i.e., proprietary .dlt plugins that implement hardware shaders as texture map plugins) and/or with the built-in Viewport Manager Shaders in Max 5, such as Metal Bump.

This is a 3d Painter that lets you paint into a bitmap or vertex colors. The bitmap painter is implemented as a material while the vertex painter is implemented as modifier. Other than that they both have the same painter tools and behave the same way.
