New Plugin: Modelling
Radial Symmetry allows you to model radial structures and see the end result. Situations in which you could use the Radial Symmetry modifier are:
- When modelling anything with a radial structure (eg. rims, tyres, flowers)
- When you what to prototype something circular
- When you want to kit bash something fast
Radial Symmetry is available for Max 9 to 2012 and costs €25.

Rich Dirt v1.10 from enRichPro
Changes for v1.10 are:
- Adds support for V-Ray 2.0 and 2.1 (SP)
- You can now write directly to V-Ray ExtraTex Render Element
- The free version now runs up to 30000 pixels for inner occlusion
- Only Streaks and Extreme Features require a license

Bobo has posted a video on the Thinkbox Software blog demonstrating some of the capabilities of their upcoming plugin XMesh, which seems to be a point-cache on steroids, and looks very useful even for non-particle stuff.

Plugin News: GPU doing SSS
RandomControl, SLU have posted a load of images showing physically correct unbiased sub-surface scattering done with the upcoming version of their Arion renderer (v1.5.1). There is no information on a release date, but it will be free to registered v1.0 users.

New Plugin: Modelling
Work Plane v1.01 from miauu
If you are familliar with Work Plane in Autocad, Revit or Modo and want to have a tool like that in Max, then this scripted plugin is what you need. It creates a work plane that automatically adjusts to match the two major axes most closely aligned to the screen axis. When you rotate the Perspective viewport the Work Plane will snap to the dominant plane, XY, XZ or YZ.
Work Plane is available for Max 2009 to 2012 and costs $10.

- Rig performance was greatly increased
- Eyelids rig was rebuilt to avoid lid 'jerks' and increase speed
- BonyFace now uses existing bones for the head and neck instead of creating its own
- Fixes some Skin issues (script no longer ruins existing weights)
- The BF toolbar was joined to BonyFace
- Adds a new icon for BonyFace
- Fixes some bugs in the Setup Rig window
- Adds some new Hide buttons in the main window

- You can now save poses with a name, based on the name of the selected pose

- The Update Catalogue feature now lets you update the Windows Explorer thumbnails
- Catalogues are now completely hidden when hidden files is selected in the preferences
- Exif is now supported for TIFF files

- File descriptions are no longer lost when moving files
- Album synchronisation is now always correctly performed
- Fixes the application sometimes crashing on exit

iDevCam is an app that allows you to control a camera in Max with your iPhone, iPod or iPad. It enables you to move, rotate or drive cameras in your scene simply by moving and rotating your iDevice, giving your camera a handheld look.

Alessandro Cangelosi has made a demo version of his shader collection R|shaders Core Zero v1.0 available. To give people enough time to test the shader collection before the introductory price discount runs out, he is also going to extend the offer to the end of November.

Artur Leão has posted some information on his upcoming app which allows you to control a camera in Max using your iPhone / iPod / iPad. iDevCam will be available through the AppStore, and lets you move, rotate or drive cameras in your scene.

Alessandro Cangelosi has started shipping his shader collection R|shaders Core Zero v1.0. Everyone who bought a pre-order license before October 6th will receive a free copy of the upcoming Deep Ocean shader, due before the end of this year, as well as free updates to R|Shaders up to v2.0
R|shaders Core Zero is available for Max 2009 to 2012 and normally costs $149. If you purchase a license before the end of October, you will only pay the pre-order price of $99.
