New Shader: mental ray Shaders

slideElements enables you to easily save multiple Max render elements to a single OpenEXR file for use in compositing. It comes with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Essentially, you add all the render elements you want to your scene as usual, and set them all to save to a dead .exr file. You then add the new slideElements shader to a 'mr Shader' object in your scene and drag this shader to the material editor. In there, you set a filename and a path, and then tell it the order in which your chosen elements appear in the render element list. When each frame has been rendered, it'll bake all these elements into a single file (with a frame number added). It also converts the ObjectID pass into a series of (up to 100) individual mask channels labelled the same as the ObjectID.

New Plugin: Texturing

The SigerShaders are scripted plugins for use with V-Ray v1.5 and higher that control many components of the V-Ray Material based on specific Material criteria.

This set contains 8 Mosaic templates which can be customized flexibly and, most importantly, quickly, for all needs. The Mosaic shader only exposes the settings that are important in creating a highly realistic and optimized material.

SigerShaders VMosaic is available for Max 9 to 2009 and costs €25.

New Plugin: Controllers

This is a simple controller that filters manipulations and passes them on to other objects. It's based on the 'Gizmo Transform' controller that comes with CAT (Phil was lead developer of CAT), but this one is a lot more sophisticated, and can do a few more tricks. New Plugin: Modelling

Quadratic Primitives -NURBS is a package of 12 plugins that represent 12 quadratic primitives (curves and surfaces): three quadratic curves (which are also known as conic sections or conics) and nine quadratic surfaces. This is the first set of plugins for Max on the market that presents the full package of primitives for modelling of / with the forms mentioned below. The curves can be created as Splines or NURBS, and the surfaces as Mesh and NURBS.

New Plugin: Modifiers

UVW Frame is composed of two plugins, a helper that displays a frame in the viewport, and a modifier that converts any mesh that is inside this frame to a UVW mesh for another object. UVW Frame allows the artist to manipulate the UVW mesh in a 3D viewport, to use the editable plugins on this mesh, and to use as many modifiers as they like.


New Plugin: Texturing

This is a library of 150 professional license-free wood flooring shaders (half bond, random running bond and stacked bond patterns) with 450 maps (3000 x 3000 pixel resolution in maximum quality JPG).

SigerShaders Volume 1 is available for Max 2009 and costs €100.
